I am a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham (UK) who researches global environmental change issues using macroecological, macroevolutionary and biogeographical approaches. I have a keen interest in island systems and birds. My recent work also focuses on functional diversity, and I am involved in the development of (i) new statistical and computational tools to study functional diversity, and (ii) large global avian trait datasets for both extant and extinct species.
